Nelly’s Latin Restaurant Brings Dominican Flavor to Midtown Kingston |
A new Broadway restaurant is serving generous Dominican favorites, from mofongo and chicharrón to rice, beans, roasted chicken, and traditional breakfast plates. |
Midtown Kingston has another reason to be hungry.
Nelly’s Latin Restaurant has opened at 584 Broadway, taking over the former Midtown location of Deising’s Bakery and Restaurant. Deising’s publicly welcomed the new restaurant to its former Broadway space in August 2026.
For Kingston diners looking for hearty Dominican comfort food, Nelly’s menu offers plenty to explore.
The restaurant’s Kingston menu features traditional favorites including mofongo, chicharrón de pollo, stewed chicken, rice and beans, roasted chicken, fried pork, seafood dishes, plantains, and combination meals. Breakfast is available as well, including the Dominican-style “3 Golpes” plate with ingredients such as mangú, eggs, cheese and salami.
Mofongo fans have several choices, while diners looking for something filling can choose combination meals built around roasted or stewed chicken with rice, beans and salad. The menu also includes grilled and sautéed meats, seafood and other familiar Latin comfort-food dishes.
The location also puts Nelly’s right in the middle of Kingston’s increasingly diverse Broadway food corridor. Within just a few blocks, residents can find restaurants and markets representing cuisines from across Latin America and the Caribbean.
For Nelly’s, that Midtown setting could be a natural fit.
Rather than trying to reinvent Dominican cooking, the menu emphasizes the kind of satisfying dishes that work equally well for a quick lunch, a family dinner or takeout on the way home.
The Kingston location is currently listed for dine-in, pickup and delivery, with its online menu showing service throughout the day. If you enjoy discovering locally owned restaurants before everyone else does, Nelly’s is one of Kingston’s newest places worth putting on your list.
Location: 584 Broadway, Kingston, NY 12401
Note: Nelly’s also has an online site associated with its Monticello location, but I could not verify that site as the official website for the new Kingston location. |

The menu sounds good, but I’d like to know what the dine-in setup is like at 584 Broadway. Is it somewhere you can sit down for dinner, or more of a quick pickup spot? Either way, rice and beans with roasted chicken is usually my test order. I’ll give it a try.
Tom R.If you go, let us know how the seating is. I’m curious whether it’s a good spot to bring the family for dinner.
I was sad to see Deising’s leave that Broadway spot, so I’m glad another restaurant has moved in. Mofongo and stewed chicken sound like a good reason to stop by after work. I’ll probably try the 3 Golpes on a weekend too. It’s nice to have more breakfast choices in Midtown.
