Kingston Tigers Football 2026: A Season in Review and the Road Ahead |
Kingston High's varsity football team has battled through a tough Section 9 schedule — here's where the Tigers stand and what is still left to play for. |
Friday nights in Kingston mean one thing in the fall: Dietz Stadium, the lights, and the Kingston High School Tigers. The 2026 season has tested the squad against one of the most competitive schedules in Section 9, and with just a couple of games left, the Tigers are still swinging.
A demanding stretch through the heart of the season
The Tigers entered the second half of October at 2-5 in league play, a record that undersells how hard-fought the games have been. On October 16, Kingston dropped a 34-20 decision to Pine Bush. A week earlier, on October 9, the team fell 31-22 to Monroe-Woodbury in a game where the offense moved the ball well but could not finish drives. Valley Central edged Kingston 20-7 on October 2, and Our Lady of Lourdes took a 31-20 result on September 25.
Those opponents sit near the top of the Section 9 standings, and the schedule maker did Kingston few favors. Even so, the Tigers have shown they can compete — the margins have been tight, and the effort has not faded as the calendar has worn on.
Players leading the way
A few Tigers have stood out statistically. Senior wide receiver and free safety Jayden Beniquez leads the receiving corps with 38.2 yards per game and has found the end zone three times. Senior running back and cornerback Jesus Sosa Garcia paces the ground attack at 40.0 rushing yards per game, giving Kingston a reliable option between the tackles. And sophomore quarterback Cole Ferraro has thrown for seven touchdowns, a promising sign for the program's future.
That mix of veteran leadership and young talent is exactly the foundation a program wants heading into the final weeks of a season — and into next year.
What is left on the schedule
Kingston closes out October with a road trip to Newburgh Free Academy on Friday, October 23 at 6:00 p.m. The regular season then wraps at home against Middletown on Friday, October 30 at 7:00 p.m. — a final chance to send the seniors off in front of a home crowd at Dietz Stadium.
For families looking for a fall outing, a Friday night under the lights remains one of the best values in town: affordable, loud, and unmistakably Kingston.
How to follow the Tigers
Schedules, scores, and player statistics are posted throughout the season on MaxPreps, and team updates flow through the Kingston City School District. Whether the Tigers finish with a winning record or not, this is a team that has represented the city with grit all season — and there is still time to get out and support them.

I appreciate the effort these kids are putting in, but I wouldn't call a 2-5 league record just a tough schedule. Giving up 34 to Pine Bush and 31 to Monroe-Woodbury is something the team needs to work on too. Maybe the Middletown game will show where they're headed. I'll still be at Dietz, just hoping to see them finish stronger than they started.
I was at the Monroe-Woodbury game, and the 31-22 score doesn't really show how close it felt for a while. Kingston moved the ball, but those drives that ended without points hurt. Cole Ferraro is only a sophomore, so I'm excited to see what he does next year. Hope people turn out at Dietz on the 30th and give the seniors a good sendoff.
Maria G.I felt the same way watching that game. A couple of those drives could have changed the whole night. I'll be at Dietz on the 30th to cheer on the seniors.
