Took my kids to the lighthouse tour last August and they still talk about it. Did not expect it to be that interesting honestly. The guy running it really knew his stuff.
Minnewaska is great but calling it a short drive is a stretch depending on where you're coming from. Also the parking lot fills up by 9am on weekends in July so plan accordingly or you'll be turned away.
Rob_Ktown100% this. We showed up at 9:30 last August and got turned away. Now we leave the house by 7:45 if we want any chance of getting in. The timed entry reservations they added help a little but spots go fast.
The Thursday night concert series at the waterfront is seriously so good. We went last summer and ended up staying way longer than planned. Bring a blanket and get there early because it fills up fast.
Minnewaska is great but I would not call it a quick drive from downtown Kingston. Budget at least 40 minutes and expect the parking lot to be packed by 9am on weekends in July. Still worth it but just go in with realistic expectations.
The Thursday night concert series at the waterfront is honestly one of the best kept secrets in the Hudson Valley. We went last summer with the kids and ended up staying way later than planned. Bring a blanket and get there early because it fills up fast.
Terri MolanoNot a secret anymore! Word really got out this year. We showed up at 6 last Thursday and barely found a spot. Still worth it though, the band they had was great. Good tip on the blanket, we forgot ours and regretted it.
