3 Best Tattoo Shops in Kingston, NY — Compared and Reviewed |
Your complete guide to Kingston's top-rated tattoo studios, with verified addresses, services, ratings, and what makes each one stand out. |
Kingston has a thriving tattoo scene — from multi-artist studios with decades of history to intimate solo shops where every piece is a one-of-a-kind freehand creation. Whether you're getting your first tattoo or adding to a full sleeve, here are three of the best-reviewed tattoo shops in the city, each with its own style and strengths.
1. Ink Incorporated Tattooing — Uptown Kingston's Longest-Running Studio
Address: 327 Wall St, Kingston, NY 12401
Operating since 1997, Ink Incorporated is one of the longest-running tattoo studios in the Hudson Valley. Located on Wall Street in Uptown Kingston, the shop is home to five artists — including owner Michael Locasio, known for his striking black-and-white work — and offers a full menu of services: custom tattooing, body piercing, laser tattoo removal, and cosmetic tattooing. Recent reviewers praise artist Jason Beever for his patience and skill, and Graham Pierce for his ability to faithfully recreate hand-drawn artwork as tattoos. The studio is by appointment only and is wheelchair accessible.
2. Skin City 2 Tattoo — Four Generations of Tattooing Legacy
Address: 484 Broadway, Kingston, NY 12401
Skin City 2 traces its roots back to 1969 and represents four generations of tattoo artists. The Kingston location on Broadway offers custom tattoos, fine line work, body piercing, cosmetic tattooing, dermal implants, and even tooth gems. Artists Bob, Greg, Rob, and Jason have earned a perfect 5.0-star rating from reviewers, who consistently mention the shop's cleanliness, welcoming atmosphere, and great music. Unlike some studios, Skin City 2 welcomes walk-ins daily and holds voluntary Bloodborne Pathogen licensing that exceeds Ulster County requirements.
3. Kingston Tattoo Company — Solo Artist, Unlimited Creativity
Address: 602 Broadway, Unit 1, Kingston, NY 12401
Kingston Tattoo Company is a solo-artist studio run by Su Houston, a multifaceted artist who specializes in large-scale tattoos, coverup work, and custom freehand designs. Her style leans toward bright colors, floral motifs, and organic flowing pieces — each one drawn directly on the skin rather than traced from a template. The studio is open seven days a week, and appointments can be booked by text. If you want a truly one-of-a-kind piece from an artist who also creates fine art, this is the shop to visit.
Side-by-Side Comparison
Which Shop Is Right for You?
Choose Ink Incorporated if you want a studio with deep roots in the community, multiple artists to choose from, or need laser tattoo removal. Their 28+ years in business and five-person roster make it the most full-service shop of the three.
Choose Skin City 2 if you value a four-generation legacy, want walk-in availability, or are interested in specialty services like dermal implants or tooth gems. Their perfect 5.0-star rating speaks to consistent quality across all their artists.
Choose Kingston Tattoo Company if you want a deeply personal, one-on-one experience with a solo artist who creates entirely custom freehand work. Su Houston's colorful, organic style is ideal for clients seeking a truly unique piece of body art.
All three shops maintain high standards of cleanliness and professionalism. Book a consultation, bring your ideas, and you'll walk out with art you'll wear for life. |

Skin City having roots going back to 1969 is wild, I had no idea. Four generations is a long time to be doing anything, let alone tattooing. Though I will say the Broadway location can be tricky to park near on weekends, so plan ahead if you're heading that way.
Dave K.The parking thing is so real. I circled around for like 20 minutes on a Saturday before I just gave up and parked near the library and walked. Worth it though, great experience once I got inside.
Got a piece done by Su Houston last spring and honestly it was the best tattoo experience I've ever had. She drew the whole thing freehand right on my arm before touching a needle. Watching her work was something else. Worth every penny.
